XTM Connect – Adobe Experience Manager

Creating a multi-language translation project (Sites > Create > Language Copy)

This project type creates one project for translating a language copy into one or more languages. There is a translation job for each selected target language.

To translate a language copy into one or more languages in XTM Cloud connector:
  1. In the global Navigation screen, select the Sites icon. You see the Sites screen.

  2. Select the check box beside the icon for the page whose content you want to send for translation.

  3. Select the Create menu in the top left-hand corner of the screen.

  4. Select Language Copy from the menu. The Language copy is generated and the Create Language Copy screen is displayed. The new Language copy is listed in the screen.

  5. Select the Language copy.

  6. If required, select the INCLUDE SUBPAGES slider on the right, to include the Language copy's subpages.

  7. Select the Next button on the top right-hand side of the screen. Another Language Copy screen is displayed.

  8. Select the required target language(s) from the Target language(s) dropdown. You can select more than one target language, using this method. The languages you select will be mapped to your XTM Cloud instance.

  9. Cloud Configuration: Select the required Cloud Configuration Path from the dropdown in this field. The configuration you select in this field sets all the other parameters for the new project.

  10. Select the Next button on the top right-hand side of the screen. Another Language Copy screen is displayed.

  11. Select the required project type from the Project dropdown. For multiple target languages, select Create Multi-language Translation Project.

  12. In the Title field, enter the project name.

This is the project name that a Project manager will see in the Projects tab in XTM Cloud.

    Note

If you enter forbidden characters such as ? or ! in the project name, these will be stripped out when the project is imported into XTM Cloud.

The project then imports correctly. This prevents projects from being rejected, and not imported, because of forbidden characters in the project name.

    Note

If you create a translation project in Adobe Experience Manager, an identifier is added to the project name in XTM Cloud to distinguish it from projects created in, for example, another CMS. This identifier is [AEM "source and target language codes"]. You see the project name in the XTM Cloud Projects tab.

    Example identifier: [AEM en_us - sv_se].

  13. Select Create. A Success popup is displayed, and a message confirms that the project has been created.

  14. Select Open to close the popup. The Projects screen is displayed.

  15. In the Projects screen, find your new multi-language translation project and open it. You see the Translation job panes containing the Language copies generated for this project. Their status is Draft because they have not been sent for translation yet.

    Note

If required, you can still make configuration changes for the entire project. To do so, select the three dots icon at the bottom of the Summary pane. The Translation Project Properties screen is displayed. You can for example add languages to the project. If you so so, select Save and Close to close the screen.

  16. At the top of one of the Translation job panes, to create a translation project containing your new Language copies, for XTM Cloud, select the down arrow to display the dropdown.

  17. If you want to generate scope details (costings) for the project, select the Request Scope option. This is not mandatory for this type of translation project (unlike Creating a single-language translation project (Sites > References)).

The translation project is generated in XTM Cloud. The Status changes to Scope Requested. The project is analyzed and, when the analysis is complete, the project status changes to Scope Completed.

    Note

For more information about viewing the scope details for a translation job, see Requesting scope (translation project cost).

  18. To send a translation job for translation, select the down arrow at the top of its Translation Job pane, to display the dropdown.

  19. Select Start.

Result: The translation job is sent to XTM Cloud for translation. The translation job Status changes to Translation in progress.
