Creating Live Copies
Using the Live Copy functionality in the Adobe Multi Site Manager (MSM), you can make the same site content available in multiple locations. MSM does not translate the content. It is used to create the required structure, deploy the content and, if required, make it available for translation (via XTM Cloud connector) if required.
With MSM, you can:
create content once, in <language-master sub-folders> and then
make Live Copies of this content and store them in language-specific language copy folders. You can then reuse this content in other areas of the same or other sites. (If the target content in a Live Copy is translated, the original source content in the relevant <language-master sub-folder> remains unchanged.)
A Live Copy can contain multiple content pages: you do not need to create an individual Live Copy for each page.
MSM maintains the live relationships between your original source content and its Live Copies. When you make changes to the original source content, the Live Copy source texts are updated to match the original source content.
Note
You can only change the source content of Live Copies of individual sub-pages and/or components by disconnecting the live relationship between them and their original source. See Detaching Live Copies from their source.
Benefits of using Live Copies:
The original source content in the <language-master sub-folders> is protected and remains unchanged.
Localized content and structures can be added to the content of Live Copies without affecting the original source content.
With Live Copies, core content can be reused in several same-language multinational sites while also enabling national variations to be created.
Example of use of Live Copies
A site (called, in this example, "WKND") is created for customers in the United Kingdom. Most of the content in this site can also be used for other WKND sites that cater to English-speaking customers in different countries and cultures. The core content remains the same over all sites, but some regional adjustments are necessary. They can be made in the country-specific Live Copies.
In this scenario, the content tree structure in this figure can be used for site content for the United States and Canada:
