XTM Connect – Adobe Experience Manager

Implementing support for the DITA standard

The XTM Cloud connector can be configured to support the DITA structured content standard for XML files. Doing so enables source content files to be joined together into a single, large file for translation in XTM Cloud. This joining function is especially useful if there are a large number of source content files which each contain a small amount of text: presenting each file for translation separately, in XTM Workbench, would be very inefficient and impractical for the Linguists involved.

For details of how DITA map levels are used to select content for translation in XTM Workbench, go to the XTM Cloud documentation page, select the version of XTM Cloud that you use and then search for the Settings — Project: Joining files in sets topic.

To implement support for the DITA structured content standard for XML files in the XTM Cloud connector:
  1. Install the Adobe Experience Manager DITA package in Adobe Experience Manager. For details, contact Adobe Inc..

    Note

Installing a package can overwrite or delete existing content. Only upload a package if you are sure that it will not delete or overwrite content that you still need.

  2. Create a DITA template in Adobe Experience Manager. For details, contact Adobe Inc..

Result: a Translation requester can then create a translation project for DITA translations in XTM Cloud, using the DITA template, in Adobe Experience Manager. When they do so, content files added to this project will be joined together into a single file, for translation.

For details, see Creating DITA projects in the Best Practices Guide.

    Note

If the joining function is enabled in a project, it is not possible to enable or use XTM Visual mode in that project, in XTM Workbench. For details about XTM Visual mode, see Configuring Visual mode.
