Adding translation content to the Translation queue

You add translation content in a selected XTM Connect folder to the Translation queue.

To add a content item to the Translation queue:
  1. In the main Sitecore screen, select the folder or item that contains the content that you want to send for translation. This folder or item is represented by [current folder name] below.

  2. Optional: Choose one of the XTM Cloud project templates from the XTM template dropdown. If you apply a project template in which target languages have been specified, you do not have to pick any target languages. Project templates with pre-processing workflows are supported.

    • XTM Cloud project templates can also include a Filter template which enables Sitecore content items to be parsed correctly: when XTM Connect – Sitecore is used in combination with the appropriate filter template, source file metadata such as an item name, field name and preview base URL can be displayed as metadata in the XTM Cloud workflow and Tasks view.

    • To see which languages have been assigned to a template, hover over the blue tooltip next to the XTM template field.

  3. In the main Sitecore screen, select Content Editor > XTM > Add to queue. The Add [current folder name] for translation popup is displayed.

  4. Optional: Change the source language. To do so, select the source language from the Source language dropdown.

    Note

    The standard default source language is English. You do not need to change it if:

    • you are adding an item to an existing project.

    • your project source language is English.

    It is not always possible to change the source language for a project, for example, if a pivot language is used with the template.

    Note

    If required, the global default source language can be changed by an Administrator in your instance of XTM Connect – Sitecore.

  5. Optional: Change the target languages. To do so, select the required languages from the Target language dropdown. You do not need to change them if you are adding an item to an existing project.

    If a target language is grayed out (and therefore cannot be selected), multiple sending of items for translation has been disabled in the XTM Connect – Sitecore administration settings, so the same item cannot be sent to the same target language again.

  6. Optional: Use the Select project to add translation to setting to add your content to an existing project. From the dropdown, you can select projects that are either still queued (Queued projects) or already in translation in XTM Cloud (Current projects tab screen).

  7. If you are creating a new project, enter its name in the New project name field. This field is grayed out if you select an existing project from the Select project to add translation to dropdown.

  8. Optional: Set the project's due date. This is the date on which the translation is to be returned to Sitecore. To do so, use the date chooser in the Due date field. You can only select a due date that lies in the future. It is not necessary to set a due date for an existing project.

  9. Optional: Select the base URL for the content that is to be translated. This field is not displayed in this dialog unless an Administrator has set the base URL in the selected project's settings.

  10. Optional: Filter the item's sub-items. To do so, select the Select subitems icon. In the Select subitems popup, select the sub-items you require. For more details, see Selecting sub-items for translation.

  11. Optional: To specify that all item components and all of their sub-items are to be added to the project, select the Include components and their subitems checkbox.

  12. Optional: To specify that items that refer to the selected item are to be added to the project, select the Include items that refer to the selected item checkbox.

  13. Optional: Select the Copy final layout settings from source language version to all language versions checkbox, if appropriate. This checkbox is not displayed in this dialog unless an Administrator has configured it in the XTM Connect settings.

Result: You have now selected the content that you want to send for translation.

  • To add this content to the Translation queue, select the Add to queue button.

  • To send this content for translation immediately, select the Send for translation button.

    You can also also send the project for translation later, using the Actions menu Send option.

Note

If any of the items you have selected have already been sent for translation to the language you selected in your project, they will not be added to the project that you have created. A system message will inform you which items are involved.
