XTM Connect – Bridge for Terminology: importing terminology files to XTM Cloud

A customer's terminology files can be sent to XTM Cloud from the source system, using the XTM Connect – Bridge for Terminology variant. The terminology they contain is then available for immediate use in translation projects.

Note

This terminology data does not return to XTM Connect – Bridge or the CMS with which it is integrated: it is simply copied and sent to XTM Cloud so that Linguists can use it when translating.

Terminology files are processed and sent to XTM Cloud as follows:

  1. The Translation requester manually uploads a terminology file in .tbx format to the specified directory on the dedicated server.

To ensure that TBX files are assigned to the correct customer, in XTM Cloud, this path format is used:

    <Dedicated server directory for term import><Customer ID><TBX file name>.

    Example:

    /term_import/2722/Christmas promotion.tbx

This ensures that the correct terminology is available for use in translation projects.

  2. XTM Connect – Bridge for Terminology fetches the terminology files from that directory and exports them to XTM Cloud. XTM Connect – Bridge for Terminology will automatically process a terminology file that has been manually copied to the dedicated directory at the directory-reading time interval set in the XML configuration files.

Note

When a terminology file is being imported to XTM Cloud, XTM Connect – Bridge for Terminology adds the prefix “IMPORTING” to the name of the terminology import file (.tbx)), which is in the specified directory. (In the example below, the fictional directory term_import.)

Example:

/term_import/2722/IMPORTING Christmas promotion.tbx
