Using 2-Step Verification

2-step verification is an optional login method that provides additional security to your XTM account. Once enabled, you will be required to enter a specific code in addition to your username and password.

In XTM, the 2-step verification method uses short-lived passwords valid for 30 seconds and cannot be reused after you have successfully logged in.

Note

When logging in, make sure that the clock on your device is synchronized with your service provider’s network.

Enabling the 2-step verification on your XTM instance
  1. Go to Configuration > Settings > Security.

  2. Select the Use 2-step verification checkbox.

  3. Select Save.

  4. Log out from XTM.

All users are required to go through the 2-step verification process to log in to XTM.

  1. Log back into XTM. You will see the Setting up 2-Step Verification for your XTM account screen.

  2. Follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to install a free-of-charge Google Authenticator app (iOS/Android), but you may use any other authentication app.

  3. Download the app, run it, and follow the in-app instructions to set it up.

  4. The app will display a verification code.

  5. Enter the code into the Verification code field.

The next time you log in to XTM, the login form will include a Verification code field. You will have to enter the code from your app besides your standard credentials.

Note

You may use any authentication app or authentication extension for your browser!

Activating XTM Cloud on your device

If computer activation has been activated by an Administrator, users must activate their device when login in for the first time.

Note

You will be asked to do this once on each new PC  that you use to access XTM Cloud.

You can only use each link once. 

You need to generate an activation link when using a new browser.

You need to carry out the activation procedure on the same device for each new browser.

This level of security can be configured by the Administrator.

To activate XTM Cloud on your device
  1. Go to the XTM Cloud login page.

  2. Enter your company name, username, and password.

  3. You will then get the message This computer is not authorized Click the link activate computer.

  4. XTM Cloud will send you an email with the activation link.

  5. Copy the activation link from your email, paste it into the address bar of your browser, and press Enter.

A prompt Your browser has been successfully activated appears – you can now use XTM Cloud.
