Parameter

Description

Mandatory/Optional

Type

Valid values

Use the selected customer’s

XTM automatically tags TMs and terminology with the customer name. When you create a project, XTM automatically uses the customer’s TM and terminology for the matching.

Optional

Radio buttons

Valid values:

  • Terminology

  • TM

  • Terminology and TM (default)

Select customers

Enables you to use other than the automatically tagged TMs and terminologies for a project

Optional

Multiple selection

The chevron-circle-right-solid.svg icon adds customers and the chevron-circle-left-solid.svg icon removes customers

Multiple customers

Use not approved memory

By default, XTM only uses approved TMs for matching. However, this parameter enables you to use non-approved TM. It is important to note that XTM automatically approves TM when a project has been completed, so by selecting this option you may be using TM that has not been through a correct or review process yet.

Optional

Checkbox

Valid values:

  • Selected (default)

  • Cleared

Hide repeated segments

Hides repeated segments when repeats exceed a specified percentage part of a file. When the specified threshold condition is met and the project is being opened in the XTM Workbench, a filter called All segments except repeats is triggered automatically. The filter hides repeated segments but displays all other segment types, including the source of repeats. The feature includes cross-file repetitions. Repeated segments are automatically hidden in XTM Workbench and then silently propagated to all subsequent repetitions. The filter can be deactivated in XTM Workbench and activated again but it is not available for projects where the Hide repeated segments option was not activated.

Optional

Checkbox

Numeric (in percentage)

Valid values:

  • Selected

  • Cleared (default)

Activates when repeats exceed X % of a file

Allow editing of ICE segments

Unlocks In-Context Exact matches for editing

Monitor target length

Allows linguists to monitor the number of characters in the target segment. There are three options available which enable you to set the character limits of the target segment.

XTM controls the target length of a paragraph and not a sentence. These segments are separated by a dotted line in XTM Workbench. Thus, for example when translating an Excel file, XTM controls the length of all the text in a cell or in an XML file all the text in an element.

Optional

Checkbox

Numeric

Cleared (default)

When selected, valid values:

  • Source less X % / Source plus X % - XTM will calculate the upper- and lower-character limits based on the number of characters in the source text plus or minus a specified percentage

  • Source less X characters / Source plus X characters - XTM will calculate the upper- and lower-character limits based on the number of characters in the source text plus or minus a specified number of characters

  • X characters - an exact number of characters for the upper and lower limit

Use Anonymization

If set by the System Administrator in Configuration and for the customer, the Use Anonymization checkbox becomes available when creating a project .

Automatic text anonymization only functions for some languages. The supported languages are:

  • Danish

  • Dutch

  • English

  • French

  • German

  • Italian

  • Spanish

For Microsoft Word source files, if text is styled with "anon", anonymization will function for any language. See //User Manual// for more information.

The default is determined by system settings or customer settings.

Note

The customer settings take priority over system settings.

Alternative translations

If set by the System Administrator in Configuration and for the customer, the Alternative translation checkbox becomes available when creating a project – select that checkbox and the number of alternatives to activate the feature for the project.

With this option selected, XTM segments the source text by paragraphs and it displays in XTM Workbench each source segment multiple times. There is a recommended translation followed by the set number of alternative translations, all of which can be completed by the translator. Each alternative translation has a field to enter a back translation.

Use the comments section to enter the rationale for each translation. A reviewer may choose the desired alternative translation and copy it from the alternative to recommended translation. Only the recommended translation will be used to generate the target document.

The Alternative translation report can be generated and downloaded from Project Editor, Files tab, Previews. This gives you an Excel file containing all the translations, back translations and comments on one sheet.
