For maximum convenience, open the Rigi Viewer and translation editor in two separate windows or on two monitors.

  • When you select a text string in the online editor, the corresponding text will be highlighted in a preview in Rigi Viewer, or another preview containing the string you have selected will be displayed.

  • You can also select a string in the preview in Rigi Viewer. The corresponding string will be then selected in the online editor.

  • Enter the translation in the online editor. The corresponding string in Rigi Viewer will instantly reflect the translation.

For more information, see the Translate using the Rigi online editor section.

In Issues mode, translators can address translation issues found by reviewers during the language test step.

  • If the reviewer has made valid suggestions, you can replace translations with those suggestions.

  • Use the language selector in the top left-hand corner to display the HTML Preview containing all suggestions from the language testers (including the issues marked as fixed). To do so, select the language icon with a blue check mark.

  • To download the translation issues to an Excel file, click the Download.png icon and select the issue status.

  • To switch to Preview view, click the Translate_in_context.png icon in the top right-hand corner of the tab screen. To locate the required preview in this view, use the arrow icons.

In Live mode, you can view the strings directly in the live application. This can be useful when you translate a language from scratch.

Live.png

Live mode works similarly to the Context mode:

  • Selecting a text in Live mode will select the same string in the online editor.

  • Translations entered in the online editor will be displayed immediately in the Live mode.

For more information, see the Translate using live links section.

Unlike in Context mode, the Live mode display cannot automatically present the corresponding page containing the translation. If you want to see a specific text in your application, you must navigate to the appropriate page, sometimes after entering your credentials, or force the system to generate an error message.

Important

To use Live mode, you need the following:

  • Access to a live (staging) server.

  • Permission to access the application.

  • Knowledge about using the app.

  • Rigi injector must be installed.

Rigi Viewer for Windows will show the live app in the same window.

To exit the live mode, click the Exit button in the top right-hand corner of the window.
