Rigi for XTM Cloud

This article describes how to create a Rigi project in XTM Cloud. The XTM connector for Rigi enables translators to localize in context using the Rigi Viewer.

This article explains how to set up the project in XTM. XLIFF is the preferred format for translating in XTM Cloud.

  1. From your Rigi project, export an XLIFF file (for details, see the Export texts for translation in external tools guide). This XLIFF file is used to create the project in XTM Cloud.

    XTM Cloud uses pre-translation

The Rigi XLIFF file contains source and target segments with the status values. XTM Cloud does not support the state attribute in XLIFF. Instead, XTM Cloud pre-translates all segments and uses the string ID as metadata.

There is a minor risk that this will result in mismatches if the TM contains multiple translations for the same source text and ID. A workaround is to only export untranslated strings to the XLIFF file for translators.

  2. In XTM Cloud, click Add project .

  3. Enter the project data as you do for regular XTM Cloud projects, in which you select the XLIFF file as a source file. There is one important setting in the translation section: the RIGI project analysis template.

    Important

It is crucial to select the RIGI project analysis template.

  4. Click Create. XTM Cloud will now start the project analysis. When it is done, you can open the translation workbench and translate in context.

  5. Click Project > Open XTM Workbench > {Language}.

This will open two new windows: the XTM Workbench, and the Rigi viewer.

  7. Translate in XTM Cloud.

    Rigi Viewer

It is now possible to translate in context.

    • Select a string in the XTM Cloud editor. This will select the preview in the Rigi Viewer and highlight the selected text.

    • Edit a translation in the XTM Cloud editor. The translation will be shown in real-time in the Rigi viewer as you type.

    • Select a string in the Rigi Viewer. This will select the segment in XTM Cloud.

For details, see the Rigi Viewer section.

The translations are available in XTM Cloud. As a next step, we generate the target XLIFF files.

  8. In XTM Cloud, Select Projects > {Project name} > Files.

  9. Click Generate target.

  11. Import the XLIFF file into Rigi. For details, see the Import translation files guide.

Language test

As a next step, you can conduct a Language test, in which language testers review translations in context and provide feedback. For details, see the Manage reviews (LATs) guides.

After this step, the translators can correct the review comments in the current project.
