Protect your account with two-factor authentication (2FA)
Your Rigi account requires an email address and password for authentication.
Two-factor authentication provides an extra layer of security. It ensures that the person trying to gain access to an online account really is the account owner.
With 2FA enabled, users first enter their username and password. Then, instead of immediately gaining access to the account, they are required to enter a number generated by a 2FA app.
2FA apps use one-time passwords (OTPs) as a second authentication factor. Most apps work the same way. After turning on 2FA for your account, you can scan a QR code to tie that account to your app. Every time you log in, your app will automatically generate a code, which you must enter to unlock your account. The code is usually a six-digit time-based one-time password (TOTP).
Important
You must have a 2FA app installed on your mobile device.
You must have access to your mobile device to get a 2FA code.
If your mobile device is lost, you can register your QR code again to gain access.
If you cannot access your account anymore, please contact your project manager.
You can enable 2FA in two ways:
during the sign-up process (for details, see the Sign up to Rigi section)
in the account settings (see the Configure your account settings > Security guide).
In both cases, perform the following steps:
Click the Enable Two-factor authentication toggle. The Two-factor authentication popup will be displayed.
We recommend printing the QR code and saving it somewhere. If you ever lose your phone, you can use this code to regain access.
Open the 2FA app on your mobile phone.
Register the QR code in your 2FA application.
Enter the authentication code from the application in the popup.
Click the Confirm button.
Open the Rigi login page.
Enter your username and password.
Open the 2FA app on your phone.
Enter the authentication code from the application into the Enter auth code field.
Click the Confirm button.
