Create a project on the server

The project manager has a set of files (for example, Asim XML files with product descriptions) stored on disk. The PM needs to clone an existing project (with all users, project settings, etc.), replace the files in the workspace, approve it, update the string list, and run a machine translation.

Using the Sync with Rigi server tool, the user can select the project URL on the Rigi server that acts as a template project. Then the following will happen:

  • The template project is cloned. It results in a new project containing all parser settings, target languages, translators, and reviewers.

  • The source files are assigned to the workspace with the correct file and parser IDs.

  • The files with Rigi tokens are returned and stored on the disk.

  • A meta.txt file containing the URL of the project on the Rigi server is created.

  • The string list is updated.

  • (Optional) Texts are automatically translated using machine translation.

To create a project on the server via the Sync with Rigi server tool, perform the following steps:

  1. Copy the source files (for example, Asim XML) to a folder on your local machine.

  2. Right-click on the folder to display the context menu.

  3. Select the Sync with Rigi server option. The main window of the tool will be displayed.

  4. Configure the following settings:

    1. Rigi.exe filepath – the location of the Rigi command line tool. It can perform various operations on the Rigi server via API.

    2. Template project URL – the URL of the project that will be cloned. The format is https://{project-name}.rigi.io/projects/{project-id}.

You can copy the URL from the address bar of the browser.

Recommended settings for the template project

You can clone every project on the Rigi server. However, the cloning will be the fastest for projects with the following characteristics:

      • The workspace contains one Asim XML file with a parser assigned.

      • The Asim XML file is small (for example, with one translatable string).

      • String lists for all target locales are available and updated.

      • Translation tasks for each target language are defined, and translators are assigned.

      • An MT Profile is selected for the project (for details, see the Project settings – Translation section).

    3. Projects root folder – the root folder for all projects. The Sync with Rigi server tool will create a subfolder in this folder to support the current project.

    4. Apply MT after project has been cloned – if this option is enabled, the machine translation will be performed after updating the project with the source strings.

    5. Open project in browser after creation – opens the Texts > Overview display of the created project.

  5. Click the OK button.

  6. In the Create Rigi project popup, click the OK button. You might need to enter your credentials first.

Open the Dashboard of the Rigi cloud application and ensure that the project is added. Open the project, and ensure that the files are parsed, machine translated, etc.

In the Sync with Rigi server display, you can monitor the progress.

If the required option is enabled in Step 4.e., the Rigi project will open in the browser.

Project creation can take some more time

The project opening in the browser does not mean that the cloning has been finished. It can take some time until the string lists are updated and machine translations are applied.

After the project is created:

  • Files. The following folders and files are created:

    1. The main folder with the name of the project. The project created on the server has the same name.

      Files.png

    2. The src folder containing the source files from the hotfolder.

    3. The tokenized folder containing the files with Rigi tokens that need to be installed on the staging server.

    4. The meta.txt file containing the URL of the created project on the Rigi server.

  • Workspace. The workspace must contain all the uploaded files. The parsers must have been assigned. The file IDs must be asim.

  • The Texts > Overview display must contain all target languages. If MT was applied, all texts must be 100% translated.

  • The Translation display must contain the same translation tasks as the template project.
