Add a technical user

Important

Settings and actions described below are only available for Rigi subscribers. For details, see the User roles section.

  1. In the top right-hand corner of the display, select user_menu.png (system menu) >Manage technical users .

  2. Click the Add technical user button in the top right-hand corner.

  3. In the Add technical user popup, perform the following:

    1. Enter an Email created specifically for this technical user.

      The Rigi team can create a unique (rigi.io) email address for you.

    2. Select this user’s Status:

      • Active. When a new project is created, this user is deselected by default but can be selected as a technical user.

      • Active (preselect). When a new project is created, this technical user is selected by default but can be unselected. Select this option if this technical user will be used in most of your projects.

      • Disabled. When a new project is created, this user is not selectable as a technical user. You can activate and select this user later.

    3. Enter the Name of the technical user.

      You can use the name of the external system that will connect to Rigi via API.

    4. (Optional) Add a short Description.

    5. Select the required Authorizations.

    6. In this section, you can select two types of permissions:

      • API permissions give the technical user access to specific API calls:

        Update project settings

        Modify the project settings, such as the project name and reference.

        Upload to workspace

        Upload resource files to the workspace.

        Download from workspace

        Download target files that contain translations or Rigi tokens.

        Upload HTML Previews

        Upload HTML Previews that were stored locally to the Rigi server.

        Upload translations

        Upload Rigi XML/XLIFF files that contain source texts or translations.

        Download translations

        Download Rigi XML/XLIFF files that contain source texts or translations.

        Tokenize strings

        Generate strings with Rigi tokens.


      • Role permissions enable technical users to perform a specific user role.

        Translate in context

        Third-party translation tools can automatically open the Rigi Viewer and then grant the translator permission to translate in context using this third-party translation tool.


    7. Click the Create button.

The new technical user will appear in the list. If its status is Active or Active (preselect), you can select this user when creating a new project (for details, see the Create a project guide). Project managers can activate or deactivate this user in project settings (for details, see the Project settings – Technical users section).
