Requesting translation

To request translation in XTM Portal:

  1. Log in to XTM Portal.

  2. In the menu on the left of the screen, select the Translation request send.svg icon.

  3. In the Translation request screen, provide the following details:

    1. In the Customer details area, provide the following mandatory and optional details:

      • In the Customer dropdown (mandatory), select the appropriate customer for your translation project.

      • In the Name text field (mandatory), enter your translation project name.

      • In the Template dropdown (mandatory), select the XTM Cloud template to be used for your translation project.

        Tip

        A template stores the settings for creating a project and assigning Linguists to it. It can be customer-specific, or global. Global templates are available for creating projects for all customers.

      • In the Upload file field (mandatory), drop the relevant source file(s) here, or click to browse for them.

      • In the Source language dropdown (mandatory), select the source language for your translation project.

      • In the Target languages dropdown (mandatory), select the target language(s) for your translation project.

      • In the Due date date picker (optional), set a deadline for your project (you can specify the date and time).

      • In the Subject matter dropdown (mandatory), the default value is set to Other. To change it, select the relevant subject matter for your project.

    2. In the Custom fields area, select the relevant custom field values, if any custom fields have been created for your project, in XTM Cloud by the XTM Cloud Administrator. If, in XTM Cloud, custom fields have been marked as mandatory, in the XTM Portal Translation request form, they are also mandatory and marked with an asterisk asterisk-solid-black.svg here.

    3. In the Additional info area, in the Description text field, provide any other additional information about your project.

  4. Select the Send translation button, in the top right-hand corner of the Translation request screen.

    The task is submitted to XTM Cloud for translation, in which a project is created. In XTM Portal, a success message is displayed at the bottom of the screen and you are redirected to the Project List.
