Uploading XLIFF and multi XLIFF files in the Project – Files popup screen
Procedure. To upload project XLIFF files used in the Offline Editor:

  1. Select the Tasks > Active tab.

  2. In the Tasks > Active tab screen, select the context menu icon ellipsis_vertical_context_menu_brand_refreshed.svg for the relevant task.

  3. From the dropdown, select copy_sharp_solid_brand_refreshed.svg Open File Manager.

  4. In the Project – Files popup screen, if you are assigned to multiple target languages in the project, select the relevant one from the Target language.

  5. In the Offline translation table column, select the upload icon cloud_arrow_up_purple_outline_brand_refreshed.svg.

  6. From the dropdown, select Upload XLIFF or Upload multi XLIFF (only available for all files).

    Result: the Upload XLIFF or the Upload multi XLIFF popup is displayed.

  7. In the Upload XLIFF or the Upload multi XLIFF popup:

    1. select the No files chosen button to find and upload the required file.

    2. for the Approve segment status for: parameter, select the Use XLIFF segment status option:

      • No segments. – If you select this option, no segments will be set to Completed after you upload the XLIFF file to XTM Cloud.

      • Use XLIFF segment status. – By default, only segments marked as signed-off, final, translated, needs-review-translation, or needs-review-adaptation will be set to Completed after you upload the XLIFF file to XTM Cloud. However, this can be customized by your XTM Cloud Administrator (for details, see Offline Editors tab).

      • Changed segments only. – If you select this option, only segments whose content has been changed and is now different from what was previously saved will be set to Completed after you upload the XLIFF file to XTM Cloud.

      • All segments. – If you select this option, all translated segments in the XLIFF file will be set to Completed after you upload it to XTM Cloud, independent of their XLIFF status.

    3. In the bottom right-hand side corner, select Upload.

Result: the relevant XLIFF file is uploaded. If you select the info icon blue_info_brand_refreshed.svg, then, in the Offline translation table column, in the Offline translation file history popup, you see the upload as successful.

If the upload has failed, in the Offline translation table column, you see the error icon red_error__brand_refreshed.svg. Select it to display information about why the upload has been unsuccessful.

Note

If required, you can set specific target segments to locked or unlocked, in XTM Workbench, when the XLIFF file is uploaded to XTM Cloud. To do so, in the XLIFF file, in the relevant <target> segment(s), enter an appropriate attribute value, as described below:

  • Locking segments

    To lock the specific segment(s), enter an xtm:locked attribute with one of these valid values: "yes", "true", or "y". Example: <trans-unit><target xtm:locked="yes">.

    These values are NOT case-sensitive.


    When you lock a segment, in addition to the xtm:locked attribute, you will also see the xtm:lockedat attribute in the XLIFF file. This additional attribute indicates when the relevant segment has been locked, specifying the time and date.

    All XTM Workbench users will see the relevant segment(s) as locked. When they hover over the locked icon lock_gray_solid.svg, they will see which user locked the segment. This information depends on the settings made by your XTM Cloud Administrator (for details, see Privacy settings).

    Users who have been granted the relevant access rights by their XTM Cloud Administrator or Project Managers can unlock these segments in XTM Workbench. To grant these access rights to a particular user, for the Segment locking rights setting, select either the Lock and unlock or Unlock only option. For details, see Adding user access rights.

  • Unlocking segments

    To unlock the specific segment(s), enter an xtm:locked attribute with the value "no", "false", or "n". Example: <trans-unit><target xtm:locked="no">.

    These values are NOT case-sensitive.


    In this way, you can unlock segments that have previously been locked:

    • by a user in XTM Workbench. If they have been granted the necessary rights, users can lock a segment by right-clicking on it in XTM Workbench. For details, see Segment options.

    • by a user in the XLIFF offline file, which has then been imported back into XTM Cloud (see "Locking segments" above).

    • automatically due to the Mark segments as locked when setting being enabled during project creation (for details, see Creating a project: Settings) or in the Project Editor (for details, see Project Editor – General info: General info).

    When you unlock segments in this way, users will see them as unlocked in XTM Workbench.

    You cannot use the xtm:locked attribute to unlock ICE matched segments if the Allow editing of ICE segments setting has been disabled during project creation (for details, see Creating a project: Settings) or in the Project Editor (for details, see Project Editor – General info: General info).
