Terminology in XTM Workbench
XTM Workbench includes a dedicated Terminology docked panel.
XTM Cloud also contains a separate Terminology module.
XTM Workbench can display all source terms recognized in an active segment together with their translations for the target language. The figure in brackets in the Terminology tab indicates the number of terms recognized in the active segment.
Select the target term from the Terminology docked panel and right-click it to open a context menu.
Select Insert into segment.
The term will be automatically placed in the target segment.
Tip
If you left-click the term in the Terminology, you can see metadata for the term such as context, date modified, and name of the person who was the last to make the entry.
Adding terms to Terminology
There are two ways to add terms to the Terminology in XTM Workbench: from the context menu and from the Terminology docked panel.
Highlight the term or phrase you want to add to Terminology.
Right-click it to display the context menu.
Go to the Terminology docked panel and choose Add term - quick.
In the popup, enter the context both for your term and its equivalent in the target language. The status option allows you to assign status to terms: Forbidden, Not approved, Rejected, Valid.
Select Save term.
Right-click the segment from which you want to add a term.
Go to the Terminology docked panel and choose Add term - quick.
Highlight the selected term in the Context field.
Select Copy selected to insert the term into the source language field.
Repeat the same sequence of actions for the translated equivalent.
Select adequate translation status.
Select Save term.
Editing terms in XTM Workbench
If a term already exists in Terminology, but changes need to be made, you can introduce them from the context menu or from the docked panel.
In XTM Workbench, left-click the term..
From the dropdown menu choose Edit to open a popup window.
Make the necessary changes and select Update.
Go to the Terminology docked panel, place the mouse cursor on the target term, and right-click it.
From the dropdown menu choose Edit to open a popup window.
Make the necessary changes and select Update.
Go to the Terminology docked panel, place the mouse cursor on the target term, and right-click it.
From the menu choose Open Terminology.
The Terminology module opens as a separate window where you can delete unnecessary terms.
