Splitting a file into bundles
It is possible to split a file into bundles of segments so that several Linguists can work on the file at the same time, speeding up the translation process.
You can split files into bundles, edit the bundles, and merge them, even after:
the file workflow has been started.
the Linguist has started working on the relevant file/bundle.
Note
If you want to assign an LSP to a file workflow step, you cannot split the file into bundles in the relevant step. All segments in the file, in the relevant workflow step, must be assigned to the relevant LSP.
If the file consists of 100 segments, you cannot assign 50 segments, in the Translate step, to your internal Linguist and 50 to an LSP. All 100 segments in this workflow step must go to the relevant LSP.
However, the LSP can then split the file into bundles in their XTM Cloud instance.
For the relevant project, open the Project Editor > Workflow tab screen.
Select the relevant file. In the box below the relevant file name, enter a lower number in the right-hand side text field.
Example 35. Splitting a file into bundlesIf your file consists of 1-12 segments and you want to divide it evenly between two Linguists, change 12 into 6.
Click away from the box. XTM Cloud creates a second bundle with the remaining segments automatically.
If necessary, repeat steps 2 and 3 to split the file into a required number of bundles.
Select Save to let the system refresh the view.
Assign Linguists to the new segment bundles.
At the bottom of the page, select Save.
You can perform the same procedure on existing bundles to split them further.
