Simple search in the Concordance tab

To perform the Concordance Simple search:
  1. Select the Concordance tab.

  2. In the Phrase text box, enter the phrase for which you want to perform a concordance search.

  3. Select the matching type:

    • Broad match – finds segments containing at least one of the words from the searched phrase by using stemming and ignoring stop words.

    • Phrase match – finds segments that contain the entire searched phrase.

    • Exact match – finds segments that equal the entire searched phrase.

  4. Define the search area:

    • Source – to search for the selected phrase in the source language.

    • Target – to search for the selected phrase in the target language.

  5. If required, select the following parameters:

    • Reverse matches – If you select this parameter, the search returns the match results found for a reverse language pair than the one selected from the Language combination dropdown.

For example, when you selected English (USA) => French (France), this parameter will return also the results for the French (France) => English (USA) search.

      Note

Your XTM Cloud Administrator needs to enable this parameter in the Configuration > Translation > TM > Matches – general section by selecting the Reverse memory matching checkbox.

    • Language variants – If you select this parameter, the search returns the match results found for every variant of the target language selected from the Language combination dropdown.

For example, if you have selected English (USA) => French (France), this parameter will return the results found for English (USA) => every French language variant.

To search for every English language variant => every French language variant, also select the Reverse matches parameter.

      Note

Your XTM Cloud Administrator needs to enable this parameter in the Configuration > Translation > TM > Matches – general section by selecting the Match against all language variants checkbox.

    • Approved memory only – If you select this parameter, the search only returns the results from the approved Translation Memory.

Find more information about approved and not approved TM in the Translation Memory topic, in the Segment statuses created in XTM section.

  6. If required, select the Tag_circle_black_gray.jpg Tags button to narrow down your search results.

  7. From the Customer dropdown, select:

    • All – to search in TM of all customers available on your XTM Cloud instance.

    • a specific customer.

  8. From the Language combination dropdown, select one or more required language pairs.

    Note

Each selected language combination will be displayed on a separate tab in the search results table.

  9. Select Search.

    As the result:

Based on the selected criteria, Concordance will search for a maximum of 50 results within one language pair, from which all duplicate entries (in which the source segments and the target segments are the same) will be excluded.

If you have selected Reverse matches parameter, Concordance will search for another maximum of 50 results for the reversed language pair. In this case, the results of both searches will be displayed as an aggregated list with a maximum of 100 entries, from which duplicate entries (in which the source segments and the target segments are the same) will be excluded.

The Concordance search results are first sorted by:

    1. The selected criterion.

    2. The score.

The results of the Concordance Simple search will be displayed in a table with the following columns:
  • Score – displayed as an ordinal number on the results list, expresses the relevance of the search result – the most relevant result is marked with number 1.

  • Source – the latest entries from the Translation Memory.

  • Target – displays target language phrases stored in the Translation Memory.

    Note
