Using an XTM Cloud TM in Trados Studio
When you download a translation source file from XTM Cloud to Trados Studio, the TM (translation memory file) that is associated with it is also downloaded to the computer on which you are running Trados Studio.
However, when you create a Trados Studio project for the source file that you download from XTM Cloud, this TM data is not automatically added to that project. You must attach the project TM to the Trados Studio project before you can use it when translating in Trados Studio. You do so using the standard Trados Studio TM management functions (Home > Project Settings > Language Pairs > [relevant language pair] > Use... > [select TM]".
This is in contrast to a normal Trados Studio translation package (.sdlppx). When a normal Trados Studio translation package is unpacked, the TM file in it is unpacked (with the TB file, if present), along with the translation files, and attached to the translation project for those translation files.
Note
No TB (terminology database file) is supplied with XTM Cloud translation projects. You can use the standard Trados Studio Concordance search to find terminology in a job.
How TM data is applied in XTM Cloud XLIFF files
When you are translating a segment in an XTM Cloud XLIFF file, the TM matches you see (in the Translation Results window) are the highest match for that source segment. You can only see the highest match: no matches with a lower match value (%) are displayed.
