Reinstalling the XTM Connect – Trados Studio plugin if it is upgraded

If the XTM Connect – Trados Studio plugin is upgraded, or you need to reinstall it for some other reason, follow the steps below. Your existing plugin configuration is not deleted or changed if the plugin is upgraded or you reinstall it.

Note

It is important to note that you must uninstall the XTM Connect – Trados Studio plugin that is currently installed in your copy of Trados Studio before installing a new version.

To reinstall the XTM Connect – Trados Studio plugin in your copy of Trados Studio:
  1. Request the plugin from your customer's Project Manager or system administrator. They will provide it to you. Its file extension will be .sdlplugin.

    Note

    Unlike many other plugins, XTM Connect – Trados Studio is not available from the RWS AppStore. Your customer's Project Manager or system administrator will supply you with the plugin.

  2. When you receive the plugin, save it to a suitable location in your network.

  3. Open Trados Studio.

  4. Select Add-Ins > RWS AppStore.

  5. In the RWS AppStore window, select the Xtm.Trados.Connector plugin.

  6. Select Uninstall. A confirmation popup is displayed.

  7. Confirm that you want to uninstall the current Xtm.Trados.Connector plugin.

  8. Close Trados Studio.

  9. Open Trados Studio again.

  10. Close Trados Studio again.

    This repeated opening and closing is necessary because it is the only way to ensure that the deinstallation of the plugin is registered in Trados Studio.

  11. Make sure that Trados Studio is not currently open: it needs to be closed during plugin installation.

  12. Go to the plugin, in your network.

  13. Double-click on the plugin. The Trados Plugin Installer is displayed.

    Note

    You can only install the XTM Connect – Trados Studio plugin in Trados Studio 2022 Professional.

    If the wizard is not displayed, because you do not have the necessary rights to run the plugin, right-click on the plugin file and select Run as administrator. If the plugin does not run then, contact your customer's Project Manager or system administrator and ask for advice.

  14. In the wizard, follow all the steps to install the plugin.

    • Select if it should be installed for the whole domain, for all computer users or for a single user.

  15. Select Next. The wizard runs and installs the plugin in your system.

  16. When the wizard finishes, select Finish. The plugin is installed in your system, but not activated.

  17. Open Trados Studio. A popup is displayed, in which you are prompted to load the XTM Connect – Trados Studio plugin.

  18. Select Yes. The plugin is ready to use. You can open it from the side panel and from the View tab in the ribbon.

  19. In Trados Studio, if required, now check the configuration of your copy of the XTM Connect – Trados Studio plugin. Your existing plugin configuration is not deleted or changed if the plugin is upgraded or you reinstall it.
