XTM Connect – Trados Studio 1.2

Locking segments according to state qualifier

If required, or if you are instructed to do so, you can define which segments are to be automatically locked on import from XTM Cloud, in XTM Cloud XLIFF files. Then, segments with the selected state qualifiers will be locked on import.

To specify which segments are to be locked on import, by segment state qualifier:
  1. In Trados Studio, select File > Options > File types. You see the File types window.

  2. Select the file type XTM Cloud XLIFF.

  3. In it, select the Segment status mapping option. You see the Segment status mapping window. At the bottom, below the two status mapping-related sections (File opening and File saving), you see the Segment locking section. It contains a list of XLIFF lock state qualifiers.

  4. In the XLIFF lock state qualifiers list, specify which segments are to be locked on export to Trados Studio, from XTM Cloud, according to their segment state qualifier.

To do so, select the checkbox beside each of the following state qualifiers, if you want segments with that state qualifier to be locked when they are imported into Trados Studio:

    • Non-translatable (selected by default).

    • ICE match.

    • Leveraged match.

    • Fuzzy match.

    • Machine translation.

    • Repeat.

    • Fuzzy repeat.

You can select none, several or all of these segment state qualifiers.

  5. To save your settings, select OK.

Result: when you use the XTM Connect – Trados Studio plugin to import files into Trados Studio from XTM Cloud, for translation, segments with the state qualifier you have selected will be locked.

If required, remember to also adjust the segment status mappings for aligning the segment statuses used in XTM Cloud with the ones used in Trados Studio, for XTM Cloud XLIFF files.

You can then connect to XTM Cloud and work on translation projects requested there.
