Exporting existing language mappings in XTM Connect – Trados Studio

You can export the existing language mappings that you have set in your XTM Connect – Trados Studio instance at all times. You can then email them to other Linguists in your company, or share them in another way, to ensure you are all working on the same language mappings. The other Linguist(s) then need to import your existing language mappings that you have shared with them. They can start using them immediately.

To export your existing language mappings:

  1. In Trados Studio, in the top left-hand corner, select File. Then, in the left-hand side panel, select Options.

    Result: the Options popup is displayed.

  2. In the panel on the left-hand side of the Options popup, select File Types > XTM XLIFF > Language mapping.

    Result: the Language mapping screen is displayed on the right-hand side of the Options popup. In it, you see a list of languages that have already been mapped.

  3. Select the Export button, in the top right-hand corner of the Language mapping screen.

    Result: the Select Folder popup is displayed.

  4. In the Select Folder popup:

    1. select the folder to which you want to export the language mapping file.

    2. In the bottom right-hand corner, select:

      • Cancel – to abort language mapping export.

      • Select Folder – to export the existing language mappings.

Result: the mappings.json file is iexported to the folder you have selected. If required, you can change the file name to a name that makes the file easier to identify. If you do not change the file name, and perform another export to the same folder, the existing mappings.json file will be replaced with the newer one.

You can now close the Options popup, unless you want to perform another action:
