Adding new language mapping in XTM Connect – Trados Studio
In general, the language codes used in XTM Cloud are matched with (mapped to) the ones used in Trados Studio at program level. However, if new languages are added to Trados Studio or there are any discrepancies in your existing language mapping, you can map language codes manually when you configure your copy of XTM Connect – Trados Studio.
To add a new language mapping:
In Trados Studio, in the top left-hand corner, select File. Then, in the left-hand side panel, select Options.
Result: the Options popup is displayed.
In the panel on the left-hand side of the Options popup, select File Types > XTM XLIFF > Language mapping.
Result: the Language mapping screen is displayed on the right-hand side of the Options popup. In it, you see a list of languages that have already been mapped.
Select the Add mapping button, at the top of the Language mapping screen.
Result: new fields with dropdown lists are displayed in the Trados Language and XTM Language columns.
In the Trados Language column, for the new language field, select the required value.
Important
One Trados Studio language code can only be mapped to one XTM Cloud language code.
Example 1. Valid and invalid language mappingIt is possible to map Trados Studio language "ar_AA" to XTM Cloud language "ar_KW" AND, at the same time, map XTM Cloud language "ar_KW" to Trados Studio language "ar_IQ".
But it is NOT possible to map Trados Studio language "ar_AA" to XTM Cloud language "ar_KW" AND, at the same time, map Trados Studio language "ar_AA" to XTM Cloud language "ar_EG".
In the XTM Language column, for the new language field, select the required value.

If necessary, repeat steps 4 and 5 to add all required language mappings.
Once you have added all required language mappings, select the Validate mappings button to check that there are no errors in your language mappings. Correct all errors before you proceed.
Warning
If you select OK at the bottom of the popup without first selecting the Validate mappings button, and there are some errors in your language mapping, the Options popup will close and an error message will be displayed. In this case, none of your new language mappings, not even the correct ones, will be saved, so you will lose all your settings.
If you are sure there are no errors in your language mappings, at the bottom of the popup, select:
Cancel – to abort adding a new language mapping.
OK – to add new language mappings.
