Sending content to XTM Cloud for translation

To send content from Optimizely to XTM Cloud, for translation, using XTM Connect – Optimizely, do the following:

  1. Log in to Optimizely.

  2. For Optimizely version 12: in the main panel, select the XTM Connect tab. Then, select the Add content subtab.

For Optimizely version 11: in the main panel, in the top navigation bar, select the Admin tab. Then, in the left hand-side panel, select the Admin subtab. Finally, in the Tools section, select the XTM Bulk Upload option.

Result: the XTM Admin Tool form is displayed.

  3. In the XTM Admin Tool form:

    1. Click in the Select content field.

Alternatively, at the end of the Select content field, on the right, select the three horizontal dots button ellipsis-h-solid.svg.

In either case, XTM Connect – Optimizely displays the Select content for translation popup containing the Content name list. In the Select content for translation popup:

      1. use the Refresh button in the bottom right-hand corner of the popup to refresh the content structure and fetch content tree from Optimizely 12 to Optimizely 11.

        Note

The content tree structure can also be refreshed automatically, at intervals set by your XTM Connect – Optimizely Administrator. For details, see Configuring XTM Scheduled Tree Content Synchronization.

      2. in the Content name list, select the checkboxes next to the entire pages, blocks, subpages or other blocks of content that you want to send for translation. You see each content item's title and content type.

        • If required, you can search for content that you want to send for translation. To do so, use the search box with the magnifying glass icon Magnifying_glass_Concordance_search.png, in the top left-hand corner of the screen. Insert one or more alphanumerical characters to restrict the number of content items displayed, so that it is easier to select the ones you require.

        • The individual content items are in a tree structure: select the caret right icon caret_right_thin_black_outline.svg to the left of a parent item to drill down to its sub-items (child items).

        • If you select the checkbox next to the parent item, all its child items will also be selected for translation.

The content types of the displayed items are also listed in the Options section, described in step 3g below.

      3. select Close at the bottom of the popup, on the right.

    2. In the Project name field, enter the name for the project you are creating. This project will contain the content that you selected in step 3a.

    3. In the Languages section:

      1. in the Translate from dropdown, select the source language from which you want the selected content to be translated.

        • You can only select one source language at a time.

        • Only source languages that are enabled in Optimizely are displayed.

      2. select the relevant Translate to checkboxes to select the target languages into which you want the selected content to be translated.

        • You can select one or more target languages at once.

        • Only target languages that are enabled in Optimizely are displayed.

    4. In the Template section, either leave the default setting unchanged, to use the default template that has been specified for this instance of XTM Connect – Optimizely, or select a different template from the dropdown.

    5. Use the date picker to set a Due date for the translation. It is not possible to set a date in the past.

    6. Optimizely content that is sent for translation in XTM Cloud can be translated and reviewed in context, in XTM Workbench, using Visual mode.

If required, to enable this, set the Preview options:

      • Enable preview. If you select this checkbox, an .html file containing the translatable content for jobs will be sent to XTM Cloud for each page, to enable the translatable content to be displayed in WYSIWYG mode (Visual mode) in XTM Workbench. These .html files will be sent at the same time as the translatable content file(s), but in a separate ZIP file.

      • Download components. If you select this checkbox, additional components will be sent to XTM Cloud, with the .html files mentioned in the Enable preview option above, for use in Visual mode. These components include .jpg and .png image files, .js JavaScript files and .css files.

    7. In the Options section, checkboxes for specific content types are selected. By default, these content types will be displayed in the Content name screen described in step 3aii above. Currently, you cannot deselect any of these content types, or select any that are not already selected.

    8. To send your selected content for translation, select the Send page(s) to translation button at the bottom of the XTM Admin Tool form.

Result: a system message informs you that XTM Connect – Optimizely is calling the XTM Cloud service to create the translation project.
